Hi! My name is Elise Arguinchona, and I am a senior here at the University of Portland, double-majoring in Nursing and Social Work. Originally, I am from Spokane, Washington and I love the northwest with all my heart. My mom is an intensive care nurse, so I grew up hearing all of her stories, and decided it was the exact path I wanted to take. I combined nursing with a degree in social work in the hopes of opening my own birth clinic one day! If I hadn’t fallen in love with nursing, I would’ve pursued creative writing as a profession (I still hope to publish a book someday… stay tuned!), or I would have tried my hand at musical theater. If I am not in school or at clinical, I am hopefully out on a run or hiking some nearby trails!
Hi all! My name is Kate Hamburg and I was born and raised in the Portland area. I am currently a Junior Nursing Major with a Spanish Minor and have loved my time at UP thus far! I like to stay involved on campus, which I do so by participating in intramural sports and working at an on campus job. I also had the opportunity to study abroad through UP, and spent the fall of my sophomore year in Salzburg, Austria. Outside of school I enjoy going to yoga and spending time with my friends and family. I decided to pursue a career in nursing because it combines my two passions: people and the human body. I was inspired to learn more about nursing from the incredible nurses in my life who have become great role models and mentors for me!
I was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. I love to go to the beach, travel, eat, and adventure to places I’ve never been to before. A fun fact about me is that I spent a semester in Australia and traveled quite a bit in 2018 with a total of 17 flights. I discovered my interest for health care from binge watching Grey’s Anatomy, but found my passion for nursing here at UP. I enjoy nursing because I love caring for people holistically, especially in moments when they need it the most. It is a field that keeps me on my toes and has endless opportunities!
Hello! My name is Patrick Bride. I was born and raised in Portland, Oregon. I am an avid outdoorsman and jump at the chance of adventure anytime I can. I am a practicing Catholic and my faith is very important to me. I chose Nursing at University of Portland because of the community and the excellent professors.I knew I wanted to care for the vulnerable, which is the main reason I want to become a nurse. If I am not working or studying I most likely am training MMA at Invictus Defense Academy in Beaverton. If you are looking for a great tour of UP with an emphasis on the school of Nursing, feel free to contact myself or the other student ambassadors! We look forward to sharing our experiences with you!
I am Ali Jabusch from Newcastle, California. In my spare time I enjoy hiking, camping, running, golfing, playing basketball, and spending time with friends. A fun fact about me is that in high school I went on a month long car camping trip across the Pacific Northwest. During the month, we hiked, mountain biked, sea kayaked, river rafted, and walked on glaciers. I want to be a nurse because of my fascination with science and my desire to help people in any way I can.
My name is Maree (like Mario but without the “O”) and I’m a senior nursing student. I’m originally from Tacoma, Washington and I’ve lived in the Pacific Northwest all my life. With that being said, I feel like I enjoy all the typical Pacific Northwest things like hiking, drinking coffee, and just being outside in general. I chose nursing because I like to be kept on my toes. I also really enjoy the science behind pathologies and the overall functioning of the body. By far my favorite part about nursing is the interaction with patients, which has been the biggest motivator for me when school has gotten more intense.
