What do you love most about your job?
The best part about my job is promoting the School of Nursing through advertisements, social media, and creating fun content! My time is mostly dedicated to managing print and digital marketing campaigns, as well as advising students for the incoming new major and minor, Integrative Health & Wellness Studies. If you wish to be featured on social media, the blog, or have a cool story to share - I'm your person!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I enjoy Latin dancing, exercising, listening to Daddy Yankee's music (#1 fan since childhood), and reading books about nutrition!
What is your title/position?
As the Administrative Assistant to the Associate Deans, I support Dr. Benes and Dr. Krautscheid in BC 315. I schedule appointments with students, faculty, and community partners and arrange a lot of meetings. I work closely with both associate deans on the nursing course schedule and faculty teaching assignments.
What do you love most about your job?
I am a member of the undergraduate curriculum committee, I pull data for various reports as needed, and I enjoy being a part of the daily happenings in the dean’s suite.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy spending time with my family, gardening, quilting, researching family history, and traveling.

What students would see me for: As a student, you would come see me for assistance with exam technology, presenting at Founders’ Day, coordination with the UP Student Nurses Association, and general School of Nursing inquiries. I also manage the student rosters, final exam schedule and DEU Clinical Instructor orientations, and assist with the Sigma Theta Tau Omicron Upsilon Honors Society, Pinning Ceremony, and the Simulated Health Center.
What do you love most about your job?
What I love most about my job is working with our amazing students and inspiring faculty!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, you can find me walking on the Oregon coast, exploring a new hiking trail, perfecting my homemade baked goods, or striving to make the best latte you’ve ever tasted.

What do you love most about your job?
I love puzzling out where all our students will go for their clinical experiences, and hearing how their past assignments went. I also totally love seeing how our students manage bumps in the road, and how they grow as nurses during their time here at UP – they are inspiring!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
During free time, I enjoy my teenage daughter’s theater shows, working on our old house (I can build a decent fence and have managed gas-line plumbing), and visiting nearby places with beautiful wildflowers and interesting geology. I’m also learning how to play table-tennis.
What is your title/position?
My name is Becca Fischer, I am the Student Transitions Manager, so I coordinate the graduate nursing program and I advise all upper division undergraduate nursing students. I have been in my role for 5 years and absolutely love my job.
What do you love most about your job?
One of the pieces of my job that I love the most is working directly with and advising students. It is so rewarding and fulfilling when I am able to help a student understand their worth and feel a connection to the UPSON!
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I love being outdoors, camping, riding motorbikes, gardening, etc. I also love spending time with my 2 and a half year old son and my husband. We are eagerly awaiting the arrival of our new baby girl in May, so I am not sure there will be a lot of free time after that, but time spent with family is always the best time anyways!
What is your title/position?
Assistant to the dean for operational support. This is my 25th year at UP! Most of the SON community, especially students, know me by my informational emails. I ensure that we have full support at the student services desk for faculty, students and staff. I facilitate the revision of student and faculty handbooks and the SON content in the University Bulletin. I am staff support for the Providence Scholars Program. Since 2001, I have been staff coordinator for the nursing pinning ceremony. I was hired by Patricia Chadwick and have since worked under five deans. My current position is the fourth since joining the SON.
What do you love most about your job?
I love working in an academic environment. The energy is dynamic and the collective goal is to foster nursing education.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time, I spend time with family, love to go on walks, reading, and watching movies.

Data and Clinical Support Specialist
What do you love most about your job?
I am new to my position and UP so there’s a lot for me to learn, which is kind of exciting. The older I get the more I realize how each decision we make sets a new path, bringing us closer or farther away from opportunities, people. I’m really happy to have the opportunity to provide assistance to students to achieve their educational goals, and that foundation of a good career that will give them so many more opportunities in the future.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
I do a lot of community and environmental advocacy that takes up some of my free time, but spending time with my 14 year old is just the best. We hang out at the horse stable on Saturdays, are watching the Marvel Cinematic Universe of films in order together, and we’re both freaking out that Avengers Endgame is opening in theaters on April 26th, 2019.

I am the Administrative Assistant to the Dean. I manage the dean’s schedule, do all of the budgeting, faculty hiring, and handle any reimbursements.
What do you love most about your job?
I’ve been here 11 years and the thing I love the most is getting up each day to come to work and visit my coworkers, student workers, and students, I love the numbers part. It’s always a mystery.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
Visiting Cheese and Crack, hanging out with my husband, sons, and dog, as well as cooking in my new kitchen.

Title – Community Engagement Manager & Undergraduate Program Counselor
I work specifically with prospective students and freshman/sophomore nursing students at UP. If you need any help regarding class registration, planning to go abroad, assistance finding campus resources, or just need a break to dance to Beyonce – please stop by my office in BC 301!
What do you love most about your job?
I’ve been at UP for 12 years and the best part of the job are the students! A huge focus for me is diversity, inclusion, and the retention of our students. I serve as an advisor, collaborate with faculty and students in our Buddy UP peer mentoring program, and am committed to working with a variety of community-based organizations to promote the recruitment and enrollment of underrepresented students into nursing.
What do you enjoy doing in your free time?
In my free time I enjoy reading, listening to podcasts and music, traveling the world with my husband, and searching for the best french fries.
