Joanne Olsen, PhD, RN, CPHQ, CPSO, assistant professor, joined the School of Nursing faculty fall semester 2016. She is teaching introduction to nursing and health care, nursing theory & knowing and is clinical faculty for adult elder health II. She has been a health care executive and operations systems consultant. Joanne has had experience in practical, professional and academic leadership positions at well-respected institutions such as Stanford Hospital and Clinics, Arizona State University and the Mayo Clinic. Joanne holds a PhD in nursing research from Arizona State University with a research interest in the role of cognition in medical errors. Joanne has an undergraduate degree in nursing from the University of South Carolina and a master’s degree from Indiana University. Olsen’s primary area of interest and teaching specialties include leadership, managing complex organizations, and performance improvement. Olsen serves as board member for Renown Health System, Reno, Nevada.
