Janet Banks, RN, DNP, ’87 is a senior instructor in the SONHI. She has served as the Program Director in the BSN program and has been a key member of the team creating the concept based curriculum. She is certified in inpatient obstetrics and electronic fetal monitoring, and is a certified Nurse Coach. Janet teaches primarily at the Junior and Senior levels.
Dr. Banks is a UP bachelor of science in nursing alum. She earned a master of science in nursing at Gonzaga, and recently completed a doctor of nursing practice in educational leadership degree from Case Western Reserve University. Research areas include clinical learning environments and characteristics of transfer students.
"I am passionate about creating space for our graduates to develop their personal and professional potential while here at UP," she says. "I want to give them ample opportunity to practice throughout their education so that each has a well-developed voice upon licensure."
