Progression Requirements

For students admitted to the BS-PHW program, progression in the program is dependent upon:

  1. Good academic standing.
  2. A grade of D or better in required PHW courses.

Additional Progression Information

  • Any University of Portland student who wishes to transfer a PHW major requirement course from another institution must first obtain the permission of thePHW Program Director prior to registration in the course. Such permission is required to ensure that the course is suitable for transfer to the University of Portland's Public Health and Wellness Program.
  • Students interested in studying abroad should consult with their academic advisor and the UP Studies Abroad office to understand study abroad options and their impact on the BS-PHW program of study. The UP Studies Abroad program recommends a G.P.A. of 3.0 or higher before going abroad but will consider applications from anyone with a cumulative G.P.A. of 2.5 or above.
  • All BS-PHW students are responsible to adhering to the policies in the most current version of the PHW Student Handbook.
  • Student conduct issues will be taken into consideration for progression in the BS-PHW program.
  • Students who have been suspended from the University may be dismissed from the Public Heatlh and Wellness Program.

Degree Requirements

To qualify for the BS-PHW degree, the following requirements must be met:

  1. A cumulative G.P.A. of 2.0 or above.
  2. A grade of D or better in all required PHW courses.
  3. Successful completion of all PHW program requirements.
  4. Completion of a minimum of 120 semester credit hours, including University Core Requirements.
