The Oregon Nurse Corps Fellowship (ONCF) program will build a new workforce pipeline from the largest urban area in the state (Portland) and the largest single site nursing school in the state (University of Portland School of Nursing & Health Innovations) into less urban communities in greater Oregon by recruiting BSN-prepared nurses to participate in a new DNP program option that will place them in high-needs Oregon areas. Participating DNP students will receive a tuition-free education and relocation assistance if living over 50 miles from the health care organization. They will be working part-time as a University student employee at the health care organization while in the ONCF program.
The University of Portland School of Nursing & Health Innovations (UPSONHI) creates positive change in health care through academic excellence to improve the health of society. The mission of the UPSONHI is to educate leaders of the future through innovative learning and engagement that enriches the culture of health care to promote health and wellness of the population. The ONCF program will uphold the core values of the UPSONHI of social justice, academic excellence, integrity, and compassion. We believe that nurses should serve as the inspiration for health care teams to support individuals, families, and communities in transforming systems to attain optimal health and wellness.University of Portland
