School of Nursing: Freshmen
Applicants for admission must meet the general entrance requirements of the University as set forth in the General Information section of the University of Portland Bulletin. The priority deadline for Freshman applications for the 2010 - 2011 academic year is February 1, 2010. The Admissions office will begin accepting applications September 1, 2009. Click here to go to the University Freshman Admissions page. All entering nursing freshmen need to have completed a high school or college level chemistry course prior to enrolling in BIO 205. If your recentered SAT score is less than 530 on the verbal SAT or its equivalent, you must take ENG 107 in addition to other core requirements.
Acceptance into the upper division nursing major is dependent upon:
- A cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above.
- A cumulative GPA of 2.7 or above in the required sciences with a minimum grade of C in each required science course. Pass/No Pass grades are not allowed.
- Completion of all the prerequisite course work. Lower division credit may be taken in any accredited college or university.
Computer experience/literacy (ability to use a PC for word processing, e-mail, and access to the Internet) is required.
